More about me:
I am a ceramicist based in a small studio nestled at the foot of the Sidlaw Hills in Angus. I love creating functional and decorative pieces with glazes and forms inspired by the landscapes around the studio.
My love for pottery began in childhood, visiting potteries and being captivated by the unique pieces and the unmistakable scent of clay being worked with and fired. It was through these early experiences, followed by studying claywork at school and beyond, that I developed a deep connection to the craft, a feeling that has stayed with me ever since.
After a long career in molecular biology, where precision and process were key, I now channel those skills into my pottery, combining careful technique with the freedom and creativity that clay offers. I create pieces for everyday use and decorative forms, incorporating subtle glazes, hand-drawn decorations and elements of the natural world that reflect my deep appreciation for nature.
Clay cannot be rushed. It forces one to take time and understand its properties. I enjoy this contrast with the super-fast world that we now live in.
I love connecting with others who share my passion for ceramics, whether they are fellow makers or customers who appreciate the craft.
